This little cutie was inspired by the song, Favorite Things from Sound of Music! I love that movie and the song! After some trial and error, I was able to get a rose that I’m satisfied with!

Materials-
Worsted weight yarn
Red and green
Hook size 3.5mm (E)
6mm Safety Eyes, or embroidered
Stitch Marker
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Sewing Pins
Abbreviations-
Rd(s)- Round(s)
MR- Magic Ring
Sc- Single Crochet
Dc- Double Crochet
St(s)- Slip Stitch(s)
Inc- Increase
P- Picot- Ch 3 and sl st in the third ch from the hook
FO- Fasten Off
FLO- Front Loop Only
Notes-
Magic Ring Alternative- chain 2 and single crochet in the second chain from the hook.
This will be crocheted in the round.
If not specified or in () repeat to the end of the round.
Rose- Head-
Rd 1: Either ch 42, dc in the 2 ch from the hook and dc across or make a dc foundation ch 40
Rd 2: turn sc in the first dc, (skip the next 3 dc, [dc 4, p, dc 4 in the same st], skip the next 3 dc, sc)x 5 (makes 5 petals)

Roll up a little tight and sew the base, the dc row, together by going back and forth through the base. Insert eyes on an outer petal, 3 sts apart with the middle st the middle st of the petal.
Stem-
Rd 1: 5 sc in MR
Rd 2-9: Sc around (5) (8 rounds)
Rd 10: dc inc (10)
Rd 11: sl st to join the rd, (ch 3, sc 2 starting in the 2 ch from hook, sl st in next 2 sts)x 4, sl st, (ch 3, sc 2 starting in the 2 ch from hook, sl st in next st)x 2
FO leaving a tail for sewing
Sew the head of the rose to the stem. I sewed the base of
the different arms to the rose head. This leaves the tips loose. Weave in ends
Leaf- (make 1 or 2)
Ch 5 start in the 2 ch from hook sl st, sc, hdc, 5 hdc last and turn to the other side of the ch, hdc, sc, sl st 2. Last sl st is in the 1 ch.
FO with a tail for sewing and slip the tail through the leaf to the rounded bottom of the leaf. Sew to the stem and weave in the ends.
